After Ryan Garcia's allegations of doping for the substance ostarine became known, the boxer began his defense to deny the use of steroids.

Immediately, Garcia published on social networks a food supplement, which according to the boxer, would be to blame for the ostarine being present in his body during the anti-doping tests.

"My fault. I shouldn't have taken this," in reference to the consumption of the aforementioned pills prior to the fight against Devin Haney.

Company refutes Ryan Garcia

Immediately, the company Gaia Herbs, through its social networks, clarified that its dietary supplement does not contain steroids, specifically Ostarine.

"Contrary to recent confusion, Gaia Herbs' Ashwagandha root does not contain Ostarine. Ashwagandha has been a revered adaptogen for over 2000 years, traditionally used to support a healthy stress response," the company wrote on its social media.

What is ostarine?

Ostarine is a chemical compound, also known as MK2866, which is widely used in the world of crossfit, and is used to treat muscle wasting and osteoporosis.

In short: It is an androgen receptor agonist, which means it acts like a male sex hormone in the body. It is used as a supplement to increase muscle mass and strength in people with chronic kidney disease; and muscle loss related to aging. However, there are concerns that the use of ostarine may have serious side effects, such as changes in cholesterol levels and an increased risk of prostate cancer.

Ostarine is not approved by the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
